Lead Veterinarian – Flinders View Veterinary Surgery

Lead the team. Shape clinical excellence. Make a difference.

Flinders View Veterinary Surgery is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Veterinarian to lead our veterinary team, drive high standards of clinical care and help shape the future of our practice.

We pride ourselves on our passion for animal health and providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners. Our experienced veterinary team has a diverse range of clinical interests and expertise, including medicine, surgery, dermatology, oncology, dentistry, behaviour, rehabilitation and preventative healthcare.

We believe great veterinary care starts with supporting our clients through education, clear communication and a genuine understanding of their pets' health needs and treatment options.

What you’ll be doing:

As Lead Veterinarian, you'll have the opportunity to combine your passion for clinical practice with leadership. You'll support and mentor the veterinary team, encourage clinical development and foster a positive, collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.

Your role will include:

  • Providing high-quality clinical care across medical and surgical cases
  • Leading, mentoring and supporting our GP veterinary team
  • Acting as the line manager for GP veterinarians, providing guidance and support
  • Supporting performance reviews and ongoing professional development
  • Helping to develop the skills and confidence of our veterinary and nursing teams
  • Supporting the training of nurses and animal attendants when required
  • Working collaboratively with the hospital leadership team
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the hospital marketing plan

Why join us?

At Flinders View Veterinary Surgery, you’ll be joining a team that values clinical excellence, collaboration and professional growth.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Take on a genuine leadership role while continuing to work clinically
  • Mentor and develop a supportive veterinary team
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues with interests in surgery, rehabilitation and more
  • Continue developing your own clinical and leadership skills
  • Be part of a collaborative hospital environment where your ideas and expertise are valued
  • This opportunity is sole charge and has no weekend hours

About you:

We’re looking for an experienced small animal veterinarian who is ready to step into a leadership position. You’ll ideally have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in small animal general practice
  • A Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent)
  • Current registration with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for mentoring and developing others
  • The confidence to provide clinical leadership and support a veterinary team
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and client service

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys working with people, wants to make a difference and is excited about helping a great team continue to grow.

Ready for your next chapter?

Whether you’re looking for a leadership opportunity, a new challenge, a lifestyle change or a move to the beautiful Illawarra region, we’d love to hear from you.
