Part-Time Mixed Animal Veterinarian – Hervey Bay Vet Surgery

Supportive team | Flexible part-time role | Varied caseload | Coastal lifestyle

Hervey Bay Vet Surgery is looking for a Part-Time Veterinarian to join our friendly and experienced team. We’re a well-established practice with over 20 years of serving the local community, and we pride ourselves on excellent patient care, teamwork and a genuinely supportive clinic culture.

We’re predominantly small animal, but offer the opportunity to enjoy a mixed caseload, including farm visits, house calls and equine work for those interested.

What you'll be doing:

  • Small animal consulting and surgery
  • Medical and urgent care cases
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Mixed animal and farm work, depending on your interests
  • Opportunity to develop orthopaedic skills including TPLO, MPL and fracture repair, with mentorship from an experienced vet
  • A varied caseload with plenty of opportunity to grow your skills

Life in Hervey Bay:

Located around three hours north of Brisbane, Hervey Bay offers an incredible coastal lifestyle with a relaxed community feel. It’s a growing regional city with everything you need close by, including great cafes, restaurants, pubs, shopping and plenty of outdoor activities.

With beautiful beaches, warm waters and a subtropical climate, it’s the perfect place for those who enjoy fishing, boating, paddleboarding, diving and exploring the outdoors. Hervey Bay is also famous for its humpback whale visits between August and November.

What we offer:

  • Minimum 3 shifts per week, including Monday and Friday
  • Approximately every 3rd Saturday on a rotating roster
  • Weekend on-call approximately every 6–7 weeks, shared across the Hervey Bay clinics
  • Nurse support during on-call
  • Regular weekday days off and some early finishes
  • Support from two experienced vets, five experienced nurses and a dedicated receptionist
  • Purpose-built clinic with two theatres and five consult rooms
  • Digital X-ray, ultrasound and IDEXX in-house pathology
  • CPD, education and clinical support through VetPartners
  • A welcoming, inclusive team that values work-life balance

We're open to all experience levels. We're looking for a veterinarian with a great attitude, who enjoys working as part of a team and is keen to learn and develop.

If you're looking for a part-time role with variety, flexibility, great team culture and genuine opportunities to grow, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply online or contact Petra on 0452 410 519 or petra.mackintosh@vetpartners.com.au for a confidential discussion.
