Thornleigh Vet Hospital

Do you have a genuine love of animals and enjoy being hands-on in a busy, rewarding environment? Thornleigh Vet Hospital is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Animal Attendant to join our team on a permanent part-time basis.

About Us

Thornleigh Vet Hospital is a well-established veterinary clinic with a purpose-built boarding facility, providing a comfortable and caring home away from home for our furry guests.

Our boarding facility caters for up to 40 dogs and 40 cats, featuring spacious accommodation, separate exercise runs and modern facilities designed to ensure the highest standard of care for every animal.

About the Role

This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days are the same! You will play an important part in ensuring the health, comfort and wellbeing of the animals staying in our boarding facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily care, attention and enrichment for dogs and cats.
  • Feeding, exercising and monitoring animals.
  • Cleaning and maintaining animal accommodation to a high standard.
  • Ensuring animals are comfortable, safe and well cared for throughout their stay.
  • Assisting with the general day-to-day operations of the boarding facility.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors, including maintaining exercise areas and outdoor spaces.

This is a permanent part-time position with a requirement to work 1 in 2 weekends.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Certificate II in Animal Studies or equivalent qualification.
  • Has a genuine love and passion for animals.
  • Has a positive, kind and caring attitude.
  • Is physically fit and comfortable with an active, hands-on role.
  • Enjoys working outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Is reliable, hardworking and takes pride in their work.
  • Has good communication skills and enjoys being part of a team.
  • Is willing to learn and happy to get involved in all aspects of animal care.

Previous experience working with animals or in a boarding facility would be advantageous, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important!

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to learn from an experienced veterinary team.
  • Hands-on training and development in practical animal care and handling skills.
  • Exposure to the day-to-day operations of a busy boarding and veterinary facility.
  • A supportive team environment where you can build your knowledge and confidence.
  • The opportunity to turn your love of animals into a rewarding role.

If you love animals, enjoy being active and would love to be part of a supportive veterinary team, we'd love to hear from you!
